Ya'll....are you seeing what I'm seeing?! After session after session of little boys and a house full of boys of my own, I was seriously so pumped when tasked with shooting my first newborn baby girl session in MONTHS! Harper's mama and I met a few years ago in my Zumba/Hip-Hop Fitness Instructor days (Don't judge me...I was gettin' it!), so not only was having a girl in the studio a welcome and exciting change of pace, but it's always fun to get the opportunity to work with people who aren't complete strangers. (However, if you've met me, you know that strangers only stay that way for about 5 minutes...then we're BFF. But I digress.) We started our session outside (a first for me for Newborns) and it was so super cute capturing these giggling siblings with their new little sister Harper. And can we just talk about Mom for a second? Who looks this beautiful 8 days after giving birth, anyways? I want answers!
After the family portion of our session was complete, it was time for some much needed girl time. Dad took the siblings for donuts and it was just me, Mama and Baby Harper for the next couple of hours in the studio. As per usual, we talked, we laughed, Mom got some well-deserved downtime and I was in baby girl heaven. It was glorious! I mean, look at all this gorgeous hair!
A girl after my own heart, Harper was not to be messed with (haha) and she let me know loud and clear when she didn't like a pose, needed a break or was ready for a snack! This girl made me earn every bit of my Professional Baby Whisperer status and I was totally up for the challenge! All in all, I think I won her over though and I couldn't have been more pleased with how lovely (and girly) her images turned out. The interesting thing about photographing babies is that, even as young as they are, these tiny little humans are already so full of personality and I love learning a little bit about each one during my time with them. For Harper, the youngest of 4; she didn't waste any time finding her voice in this loud and messy world of ours and I absolutely love that about her! "Though she be but little, she is fierce." This one just might change the world guys. Go Harper go!
