Sweet Baby Easton is the true definition of 'more than meets the eye.' When you look at this beautiful boy, what do you see? With those chubby cheeks and 10+ pounds of adorable baby rolls (I mean...could he be any juicier?!) would you ever guess that this little guy spent the first month of his life in the NICU?! Because Easton made his grand entrance a month early, I didn't get to meet him at 7-10 days old like I typically would for a newborn session. Instead, this not so little guy (wink wink) was nearly 3 months old when he came to me. Definitely the oldest 'newborn' I'd worked with to date... but his session did not disappoint!
We started the session with some super sweet family portraits and even I got the privilege of capturing the beautiful bond between Easton and his mama while he was nursing. Those breastfeeding photos made for some of my absolute favorite images from his session. I think so many new mamas can be self conscious about taking these types of photos and I wish I could change every single one of their minds. There's just something so precious, so stunningly beautiful about that connection and I know from personal experience that these moments will all too soon be distant memories.
Other than just being so stinking adorable, one of the other things that I really enjoyed about this session was the fact that mom and dad both were in attendance which meant we got to chat, I got to hear a bit or their story, and as usual we were able to have a good time together getting to know one another. Even as a brand new Dad, this one already had his jokes on deck! He had me rollin' when I was gushing over how sleepy Easton was (a newborn Photographer's dream) and Dad blurts out "Man, this boy sleeps like he worked 40 hours this week!" It was priceless! I seriously have been blessed with such great Clients all year long (at least 2020 has been good for something) and this was just another one of those moments that made me think... OMG, these are my kind of people!
All good things must come to an end of course, and portrait pickup day was particularly sad for me because Easton's parents ordered my (favorite!) largest package which means...WALL ART! I proudly displayed that wall art from their sweet session in my studio and looked at with pride and joy every day; that is, until they took it away! Haha How could they!? All jokes aside nothing makes me happier to see my work printed, in my clients' hands, and on the way to their homes where I know it will be proudly displayed.
