Allow me to introduce you to the laziest, sleepiest baby I've ever photographed! Meet sweet little Brody who was pretty much putty in my hands throughout his entire session. It. was. incredible. Despite him being an absolute dream client to work with, what was even cooler about this little guy's session is that even at just 7 days old, this wasn't our first session together...
Look familiar? Yup, that's Brody behind that belly! I was so blessed to be asked to shoot his mom (and my friend from Church) Kristen's maternity session and even more excited to capture his first days on the outside! I remember distinctly talking to this first-time mama about how she couldn't imagine handing over her brand new baby to a stranger and I was more than honored that she trusted me of all people, for his newborn photos.
Is he adorable or what?! Typically in a Newborn Session, you may see 1 or 2 images where the baby is wide awake. Usually these images result from Baby needing a break to eat, have a diaper change or simply from being posed, wrapped, unwrapped, etc. Not Brody! What you see is what you get! I remember his session being the most quiet and calm one I'd ever had. His calm demeanor literally blanketed the room and Mom, Dad and I just soaked him in. Sure, every once in a while, we'd chit chat, joke or comment on his cuteness, but for the most part, despite our pre-existing relationship, we were mostly quiet. It was quite different from most of my sessions yet it was beautiful, still.
I really feel that God gives us what we need for the moment...moment by moment, throughout our days. And that day, we needed quiet. We needed peace. We needed a room full of the love that newborns birth in us and that's exactly what we got! What a blessing!
