Westerville & Columbus Newborn Photographer | Tami Harris Photography
Let me start this one out by saying you never really know what you're going to get when your Newborn Photography Clients are total strangers. Will they like you? Will your personalities mesh well? It really is a toss-up! So imagine my absolute delight when not only did I totally connect with Asher's family but we had an absolute ball throughout his entire session! It was seriously so much fun! Asher's mom just so happened to find me on the Columbus Black Owned Businesses Facebook page and the rest, as they say, is history. Instead of Dad coming to the shoot (which, I'll be honest, most Dads are over it pretty quickly haha) Mom brought her own mother, who was in from out of town, and let me just tell you... These ladies were so fun and funny and watching a grandmother 'oooh' and 'aaah' over her sweet grandson is not something I often get to witness and I was all for it!
I mean look at this little guy! He was so precious and snuggly and don't even get me started at how much this boy loves to EAT! I think we may have taken about 6 snack breaks so that he could nurse. It literally became a running joke throughout the session! Little Asher had the whole eat, sleep, poop routine down pat! Haha! He reminded me so much of how my own boys were as newborns! That's one of the things I love about being a Newborn Photographer. Even though I didn't get to have this portrait session experience with my own children, it seems like every time I'm working with a Client's baby, the stories and memories come flooding back one after the other. It really is a beautiful process to be a part of.
Besides the fun we had cracking jokes, threatening to 'bust a freestyle' on the instrumental beats I had playing on Spotify (yes, seriously!) and swapping stories, there was one thing in particular that made this session super special. Baby Asher, just like my youngest son, is a Rainbow Baby. In the moments after a loss, we can be so consumed by grief that it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But, GOD! This sweet little boy was meant to be; Mama's true rainbow after the storm and there was no denying just how loved he is! It can bittersweet to share this heartbreak in common with my clients but there's also something comforting in knowing you're not alone. When I found out from Mom that Asher was a Rainbow Baby, I had just the prop in mind and just like him... it was perfect.
