Westerville & Columbus Newborn Photographer | Tami Harris Photography
Let me tell you the story of how this little session came to be. Picture this: You're a Newborn Photographer in Ohio. . . in March 2020 . . . and your entire business has come to a standstill due to, you guessed it, COVID-19. I was bored, out of work, and desperate for the creative outlet that is photographing and editing. One day, out of the blue, I started getting messages from friends and family about this Front Steps Project that Photographers were doing nationwide to capture families (from a safe distance) on their porches during this crazy thing we called Quarantine Life. I loved the idea, jumped on the opportunity within my own neighborhood, offering these porch pics free of charge to my neighbors. I figured if nothing else, I could be a blessing to someone else, make some new friends in the neighborhood and fill this creative void in my life. It was seriously a win-win-win situation. Enter the super sweet couple next door who unbeknownst to me, was expecting their first baby. . . a little girl named Elise.
Thanks to Coronavirus, I had to wait 3.5 long months to get to meet this precious little one, but she was totally worth the wait! Elise's 3 Month Milestone Portraits were seriously like the tale of two sessions. She showed up decked out in this adorable little romper ready to party and she and I made fast friends. (I'd forgotten what busybodies 3 month-olds could be despite not being able to crawl yet!) Elise soaked in every bit of attention I threw her way, smiling and cooing while those chubby little arms and legs were flailing all over the place! It was absolutely adorable. Mom even joked that I "really am the Baby Whisperer" because she totally started to fuss when I had to hand her over to Mom & Dad for a wardrobe change. (What can I say? It's a gift! ha) Fast forward a few minutes and this little lady went from Party Animal to Party Pooper and the results were pure gold!
I mean seriously! Look at her. What a beautiful, beautiful baby! I couldn't be happier that this session went exactly as it did. I got to reconnect with my awesome neighbors and I got to spend some much needed girl time (Hello?! Mom of boys here!) full of flowers, headbands and an abundance of pink with little Elise. Despite all of her cuteness, my absolute favorite part of the session was when I looked over at her parents to see them standing together, hugging, watching their sweet girl sleep while I captured these precious moments for them. It was seriously the most precious thing to witness and just one more reason why I love being a Newborn Photographer. It's not often that you get to work with families that live in such close proximity, but with this one just a stone's throw away, it really feels like such a blessing that I'll get to watch her grow over the years!
